Join us in celebrating Disability Pride Month, an empowering observance that promotes visibility, self-acceptance, and challenging societal norms. Each July, we honor the history, achievements, and ongoing struggles of the disability community, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act—a pivotal piece of legislation in the fight for equal rights. This year's theme, “We Want a Life Like Yours,” provided by The ARC, reflects the aspirations of disabled individuals for equal opportunities in education, employment, and community engagement. We embrace and affirm disabilities as an integral part of individual identity, rejecting internalized ableism. Together, we can build a more inclusive world.

Noelle Lambert is a trailblazing para-athlete whose journey began at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Her life took an unexpected turn in 2016 following a moped accident that resulted in the loss of her left leg. Despite this, Noelle’s indomitable spirit saw her not only return to competitive sports but also excel beyond expectations. She switched from lacrosse to track and field and made a remarkable debut by breaking the U.S. women’s record in the 100-meter at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai. She continued to break records, including her own, and placed sixth in the 100M event at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, held in 2021 due to the pandemic. Noelle’s experience has fueled her passion for advocacy and support for other amputees, culminating in the founding of The Born to Run Foundation, which provides athletic prostheses to young amputees.
Off the track, Noelle is a beacon of inspiration, using her platform to spread messages of hope, determination, and resilience. She believes her accident was a pivotal moment that allowed her to help others in profound ways. Through her speaking engagements and role as founder of The Born to Run Foundation, she encourages others to overcome obstacles and pursue their passions. Her efforts have been recognized widely, earning her several accolades, including the Myra Kraft Community MVP Award, the Wilma Rudolph Student Athlete Achievement Award, and the L’Oreal Women of Worth Award. Noelle’s story is not just about personal achievement but about her relentless commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, solidifying her status as a true hero among us.
